fix pics

Here are  some pics of my fixie.   I was going to wait til I got bar tape on it.  I  was decided on green tape, but am thinking maybe boring black would be better.  Joel down at the Pedal House told me to go with white.  I dunno.  Nothing's really special about it.  It's an old Gitane frame, and I couldn't find a headset that would fit the matching green fork, so it's now the Christmas bike.  Year round.  The seat and pedals and cranks and chainring and handlebars and stem and brake are all things I found in parts bins at the shop.

I do plan on eventually connecting the brake to the lever.  Especially after I almost got squished between two cars last week.

my fixie

i got my fixie frame back from the powder coating place on sunday (thanks zach!) and decided to piece it back together tonight.  turns out the headset i ordered isnt the right size and after filing the headset race mount on the fork for an hour and turning the bike shop upside down looking for a proper fitting headset for an hour, i decided to call it a night.  i think i'll try finding another fork around the shop and using it, although the original would look sweet with the matching green.  i'll look tomorrow and see if i can find a fork that'll work and hopefully get the thing up and running again.  man, i was so excited to ride it.  oh well, another few days won't kill me.  i did sell my old schwinn breeze (mine was green with a chrome front fender and an unmatching red rear fender.  i found it on the side of the road) , though, since i'm riding the corvette ii these days.

they did an ok job with the frame, though if i were to get anything else powdercoated i'd probably go to fort collins first.  i dropped it off and they told me the following for price:
$25 to sandblast it
$75 for the first color (black, predominantly, on the tubes)
$25 for the second color (green lugs & dropouts)
after three weeks i still hadn't heard from them, so i gave them a call.  "oh, we can't do two colors after all.  pick one" was the basic gist of that part.  then i asked how much it would be.  "$125."  "i thought it was $100 for the first color?"  "right, plus the $25 for the sandblasting."  that's f'd up, man.  i know they told me it'd be $100 total for the sandblasting AND the first color, and now they make me pay more?  so, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND KCK KOATING in cheyenne.  plus, they didn't seal off the head tube, the seat tube, or the bb shell, so there was powdercoat IN the frame.  seriously, that's pretty freaking weak.
